If you didn’t get your Facebook User ID last Friday, be sure to head over to Facebook and get yours right away.

I have seen a bit of a debate going on over using your real name or Social Media ID as your facebook user ID.

I opted to use my real name ‘Karrine’ though the reason is only because I know there is another Karrine out there who is always snatching the name up before me. I don’t have a fan page for my blog/s or myself (that seems a little conceited) which means I am no where near the required 1000 user names to obtain a user ID for the non existent group or fan page.

Be sure to think about what user name you want and double check your spelling as there is no going back once you hit that submit button according to Facebook;

“No. Once you have claimed a username by clicking the “Set Username” button, it is not possible to edit it, or to transfer your username to a different account on Facebook. Additionally, when an account is removed from the site, its username will not be made available to other users for security reasons.”

Which reminds me of the time I set up a dating profile and mistyped my user ID. Girlwithabrain means something completely different on a dating site when you type Girlwithabrian !

To see all the Facebook USER ID guidelines check their Facebook User ID notes page.

While you are there stop by Shawn Collins Fan page and become a fan. According to his Affiliate Thing Podcast yesterday he only has just over 200 fans.

If you are searching for European youth online you may want to check out Net Log. Net Log boasts over 40 million members participating in over 20 unique languages.

A comcscore marked leader in page views for Belgium, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Romania and Turkey, NetLog boasts over 4 billion monthly pageviews.

I registered for NetLog this past weekend (though I am not a European user , and found the registration process refreshingly simple. During registration potential members are asked what they will be using NetLog for; making new friends or staying in contact with friends.

Navigation is simple offering:

* Overview
* Profile
* Guestbook
* Pictures
* Blog
* Clans
* Brands
* Videos
* Events
* Music
* Polls
* Links
* Applications

The ‘clans’ appears to be a unique European form of groups. Their Top Clan being an ‘Anime Lovers Clan’ with 5914 members. Which supports the Youth demographic. My niece is 20 and a huge Anime fan (though also an intelligent and articulate young woman).

My time was limited this weekend, so I didn’t get the opportunity to review the site and advertising options as in depth as I would have liked, though I did find the use of “brands” intriguing.

They also appear to be hiring multilingual Internet Savvy staff in a variety of positions.

So if European and youth demographics and contacts are of interest to you, stop by NetLog and join the 40 million strong members.
