I am going to give Flippa a try. I have listed OrganizedFamilies.com for sale at Flippa. We’ll see how it does.

Working with female demographic companies, I find many are looking for some funky, retro, or unique fonts and Princess fonts is a great free resource.

Princess fonts offers hundreds of free fonts that you can search for alphabetically. My search this morning was for some fun fonts to create a birthday party invitation for my daughter.

My idea is simple. Currently you can only select ONE default role with wordpress. This means when a visitor registers on your blog they are set to  for example susbcriber.

You then have to manually change each user to their role in the admin section.

What if you created new roles (maybe you have a blog for VA’s and you want  the OPTION for user to register as a VA or a Business owner ) and you want the user to select the right one when they register.

My suggestion is for WordPress to:

instead of a ‘default role’ on the general settings page ;

allow admins to select either
a Default role
OR
select MULTIPLE user roles to be included within a DROP DOWN to be included on the user registration page

Take a look at the affiliate banners on your site. Do they have a call to action ?

The 125 banners to the right all have NO call to action. I found these on a blog which is interesting as I often here from bloggers that they won’t run affiliate programs because they don’t earn revenue.

You will find many small affiliate merchants that offer in house affiliate programs do not have hours of experience monitoring large volumes of ad impressions, clicks, and sales that a dedicated affiliate manager has. So their creative goals are usually to brand their business and look great. Or they simply don’t have the expereince to create the banners you need. The same holds true for some graphic artists, they design based on design not sales.

This will NOT help you as an affiliate drive converting (purchasing) visitors through your affiliate links.

I have watched a campaign receiving over 20 000 US only impressions a day go from a click through rate of .05 % to 1.1% simply by changing the creative to include a clear call to action and offer statement.

So how could these banners generate more qualifying clicks ? By including a simple clear call to action such as:

3. Buy Now
4. Go
5. Click for free shipping <- call to action & incentive or offer statement
6. Get info here
7. Check it out
8. Go Shopping
9. Subscribe now

I made this banner in about 3 minutes (so pardon the unfinished look) I want to show how just a simple question and call to action can increase your affiliate programs performance. So which of these would you click?

Call to action Call to Action Call to Action. Yes, it’s an affiliate marketing mantra. If your affiliate programs aren’t converting – check your banners.

Your affiliate merchant should be providing you with full sets of IAB Universal Package banner sets for a variety of offers and landing pages that allow you to target your affiliate offers to send them better qualified visitors.

If they aren’t it’s time to send them an email and let them know your sales would increase if they provided better and MORE creative.

I like the Category Posts Widget. It is light weight and has most of the features your average blogger would need.

Display thumbnail images via WP 2.9’s new post thumbnail feature.
Set how many posts to show.
Set which category the posts should come form.
Show the post excerpt and how long the excerpt should be.
Show the post date.
Show the comment count.
Option to make the widget title link to the category page.
Multiple widgets.

Another great side bar widget for wordpress is Query Posts Justin Tadlock. It allows you to display posts by tag, category, author, time/date, custom field key and/or value.
Choose any number.
Order by various terms.
Show pages.
Show the full post, excerpt, or even order them in a list.
And much more…

Justin’s side bar widget is a bit more ‘techy’ but all of his plugins get high ratings from me.
